Relay Systems, Inc. is a private design and manufacturing firm, specializing in locomotive electronics, relays and contactors. Patented solid state designs bring innovation to locomotive relays and contactors. Our RelayCard Series marks a new age in locomotive relay circuit technology. The hybrid design combines state of the art control circuitry with low cost replaceable square type load relays yielding a switching platform thatís reliable, inexpensive and upgradeable. Perfectly suited for all types of railroads and rebuilders, both big and small. Our solid state models offer latest technology with the elimination of all moving parts. Designed for automated production this relay allows for mass production to meet varying needs and reduce lead times.
Relay Systems, Inc.'s modular designs allow a customized configuration without the high costs associated with small custom orders. This would better serve our smaller customers or larger railroads looking for custom orders while maintaining parts interchangeability. A solid state control board is housed along with a bright red LED status indicator, a Molex connector and the load relay socket. The load relay plugs into the control housing allowing replacement of either component separately. This reduces inventory costs since the average load relay is under $20. Fast-on models and custom connectors are also available.
The versatility that was designed into the RelayCard makes it appealing for use in both old and new locomotives and with the ability to be controlled with CMOS or TTL signals makes it the perfect choice for integration into computer control systems.
For OEM and larger railroads the RelayCard can be built onto a single board with as many as a dozen relays operating independent of each other. This model could incorporate as many as 40 relays in a one foot square. All models are designed to be direct replacements for vapor style relays. No modifications to the electrical system. Models that incorporate Molex connector will need pin terminations installed the first time.
RelayCard interlocks can be paralleled or as an option high current models are available to 30 amps or more with load switching to 150 Vdc. All models incorporate over voltage protection, can sink or source current and accept multiplexed feedback.
Relay Systems, Inc. currently has several vapor replacement relays in field use on locomotives. These relays have performed without failure and have over 4 years of service time. Field testing has begun on our AC fan contactor, designed as a direct replacement for the discontinued 'Square D' model. Our relays and contactors have undergone extensive testing under OEM standards in an industry recognized testing facility using EMD recommended testing procedures. All products will be manufactured under ISO 9001-2000 certification. The use of innovated technologies allows us to offer products safe for the environment and in ROHS compliance.
